What Obstacles Have You OverCome
I’m not sure how many of you watch Fox News but, I for one am appalled at what passes for journalism on that station. I was so moved by the content of the ‘news’ on that station that I had to contact the person sharing. On November 7, 2008, I watched Laura Ingram’s show and I felt compelled to send her this e-mail the next day.
“I know that you have the freedom of speech on your side but I watched you last night on Fox. You need to grow up!! Evolve, Change. The reason you are so against Obama is either you are extremely prejudice (as could be viewed by the page with the words "give me your wallet and everything will be ok" with Obama standing in the picture) or you don't like him as a man, a person, a human being, which could be because you simply do not like his policy, or it could be, which I got a sense of last night, that you have no heart, no spirit, for him to have touched, which means that you have no clue as to what this means to a lot of people in terms of a new direction, as well as the possibility of economic growth for a while. All elections are based on possibilities.
You even criticized him on his first press conference, for not taking a stronger stand on what he was going to do before giving him a chance to review thoroughly what has been done. I got no sense that it was just business, that you got paid for being controversial. On some deep level, you were feeling your words, you attitudes. You are saying words that are based on what??? I'm at a loss for true understanding of your attitude but like I said, I do understand that you have a right to say whatever you feel, pretty much.
I also know that when your words are not based on truth or awareness of positive possibilities you lose respect from viewers or you stir the worst in people. Sometimes it is best to think before you open your mouth to speak and as a very articulate speaker (you are that) I just thought you should know this. I know that if I had your position, your ability to speak what's on my mind (I can not even do public speaking) I would use it to bring about the positive. I guess that's why I, as, a thinking, feeling person was so turned off by your words as you spoke them last night on Fox.
Keep Hope Alive!!”
She has not really gotten back to me on any level but I definitely hope she took the time to read my message and reflects on the power she has and in my opinion is misusing.
Obama is president ‘elect’ and I feel that is the key word. He is not president yet. He does not step into that position until January so he can not be held accountable for anything until he steps into the position. Give him a chance to do what he can without the constant criticism. His job is hard enough without the complications of negative thoughts and verbalized words.
For those of you who have the power as a journalist think about what you are putting out to the world because a change is going to come one way or the other so don’t let your words come back to smack you in the face.
And That’s The Way I See It.
