CRITICISM OF OBAMA - WILL IT EVER END

December 20, 2008

“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” – Albert Einstein

There is always someone who will not be happy with things being done.  Obama has been moving right along picking his cabinet and doing a unique and, on paper, effective job towards his goal of action once in office.

Right now, his pick of Evangelical Rick Warren, as the person to give the invocation during his inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2009, added to the fact that there are no openly gay people chosen for his cabinet, has created dissention in the gay community, his lack of enough women in his cabinet is creating dissention among women’s groups.

People have criticized him for not taking a stronger stance with this issue or that issue regarding the economy.  People are criticizing him for his associations with numerous people, from Rev. Wrigtht, to Bill Ayers, to Blagojevich, embattled Illinois Governor, to Jim Leach, Republican from Iowa, to Brent Scowcroft, National Security Adviser under the first President Bush, the list goes on and on.

But through it all, Obama has not been intimidated; he has stood strong and decisive.  Obama is showing the true character of a leader day by day and people are still disapproving.

My pride in the way Obama is managing his affairs has not diminished since the first day that I heard him speak.  My only hope is that the criticism, the unrealistic expectations, the negativity, does not corrupt the spirit of the man.

I hope he continues to surround himself with efficient, knowledgeable, manageable, independent people and that he remains open to the conversations of people from the left, the right and the in between.  Only then can he truly grasp the full picture.

And that's the way I see it!!!

What Obstacles Have You OverCome

November 9, 2008

I’m not sure how many of you watch Fox News but, I for one am appalled at what passes for journalism on that station.  I was so moved by the content of the ‘news’ on that station that I had to contact the person sharing.  On November 7, 2008, I watched Laura Ingram’s show and I felt compelled to send her this e-mail the next day.

“I know that you have the freedom of speech on your side but I watched you last night on Fox.  You need to grow up!!  Evolve, Change.  The reason you a...

We have come to the fork in the road.  This is it.  It’s the Last call for change.  Which road will you take??

Get out and vote!

Obama has done all he can.  Now it’s up to you to make a difference in your lives, in the way you feel about yourselves.

Get out and vote!

Come rain or shine this is one day, one small inconvenience you can endure in an attempt to get it right, to bring back hope and possibly even ease some pain.

Get out and vote!

Every distraction, distortion, misr...

DON’T LET CHANGE SCARE YOU

November 2, 2008

As the days draw closer to election, I feel the last minute surge for McCain rising.  They say there is no such thing as the Bradley factor but it has been my experience in life that there is a Bradley factor in a situation like this.  I hate to say it like this because I want so bad to be able to move past this attitude but it is still so relevant.  White people have a tendency to say one thing smiling in your face but act against you on every level as though they are afraid to allow you to ...

The Eloquence Of Obama

October 31, 2008

My spirit has been weighted down these last couple of days.  I have been consumed with the possibilities of what is to come.  It’s to the point where I am barely going through the motions of living.  Last night I watched as Obama spoke to a crowd of people in Missouri.  I must say his speech was moving.  I am moved by the sincerity I see on his face.  I am moved by the feelings of hope he inspires, with his words and the plans he speaks of for change in this great country.  A change, I feel...

Rhetoric and Associations

October 26, 2008

I have watched many elections come and go.  Candidates are always sprouting words about what they will do for the country, the economic situation and the people, but rarely have I seen them actually implement all that they guarantee.

Truth be told, I am a little fed up with it all especially after the last election and the Florida madness.  I was not going to get involved with this election on any level either.  However, on the last televised debate, I clicked to a station that was live w...

Genesis 11:1

October 23, 2008

Many people have interpreted this chapter in the Bible to mean many things, but for me there is a secret to life and harmony amongst people written in the pages that we all need to take a second look at.  Babel was the first major city developed after the floods of Noah’s time.  The first time I read this story, I had to laugh because I began to say to myself and to others that this was the biggest laugh God got off of mankind for not following his word.  After seeing the power His words he...

Socialism Defined

October 23, 2008

I have to admit that when I first heard Obama speaking on health care, college tuition and taxes, my first impression was that of a socialist country.  I thought at first that I was just blowing what he said out of proportion.  The next day and the days that followed, I realized I was not the only person who got that initial impression because that is all the talk today.

I had to go look up socialism.  I would have used "Webster's" Dictionary because, for me, that is my favorite reference book...
